CFL1, CFL2
I'm a busy Mom of two teenagers. In 2005, I started a roller derby league and played competitively until 2012. When I hung up my skates, I took up a Board of Director position on the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) which did not appease my appetite for physical activity. Many roller derby skaters crossfit to become stronger, so I walked into a gym and immediately knew Crossfit was for me. The community, the accountability, the fun, not to mention kick butt workouts - I had found my new team at Crossfit.
In 2017, I retired from the WFTDA BOD, took my Crossfit L1 and started skating again. Crossfit allowed me to return to the sport I love as an aging athlete, stronger than ever. Late 2018 I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer after my first mammogram. I continued to Crossfit as well as I could and in mid 2019, when I was officially in remission, we moved to New Zealand for my husband's job.
Though I had no intention of coaching, my New Zealand gym needed coaches and I fell in love with another aspect of Crossfit. Coaching crossfit has given me a way to connect with people through fitness; I love working with athletes of all levels and folks who crosstrain with another sport.
